SVH Policies
New Client Appointments: A scheduling fee is required prior to scheduling initial appointments for new clients. This fee will go towards the exam fee for the pet. Appointments may be cancelled or rescheduled up to 24 business hours prior to the appointment time at no additional expense. All no-shows or cancellations or reschedules less than 24 hours prior will result in the forfeit of the scheduling fee and a new scheduling fee must be paid prior to scheduling additional appointment times.
Cancellations: For all clients, a scheduling fee will be required to make any appointment IF the client has acquired 3 or more appointment no-shows or cancellations that occurred less than 24 business hours prior to the appointment time.
Prescription Refills: In order for us to provide the best service possible, ALL prescriptions require a minimum of 48 hours (2 business days) notice to refill. This includes prescriptions for controlled substances, written prescriptions or online prescriptions. If a prescription is called in on Thursday afternoon or Friday and does not have refills available, it will not be authorized and filled until Tuesday.
Price Matching: We will only price match to the online pharmacy we are contracted with (https://salemvethospital.covetruspharmacy.com, formerly known as Vets First Choice). We do not set the prices or have control of the prices on this site. We are not able to compete with big box corporations who are able to purchase very large quantities at lower prices. We are also unable to guarantee the legitimacy of medication ordered from third party, out of country websites that are not accredited.
Compounding Medications: We are legally unable to cut medication unless the dose we are trying to achieve does not exist at any compounding pharmacy.
Specialist Appointments: A $100 scheduling fee is required prior to scheduling any and all specialist appointments. All no-shows or cancellations or reschedules less than 24 hours prior will result in the forfeit of the scheduling fee and a new scheduling fee must be paid prior to scheduling additional specialist appointment times.
Surgical Procedures: A $200 scheduling fee is required prior to scheduling any and all surgical or anesthetic procedures. All no-shows or cancellations or reschedules less than 24 hours prior will result in the forfeit of the scheduling fee and a new scheduling fee must be paid prior to scheduling additional surgical appointment times.
Boarding/Hospitalization/Drop Off: All pets that are scheduled to stay in our clinic for longer than a single appointment time must be up to date on their core vaccines (Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella for dogs and Rabies and FVRCP for cats unless medically exempted by a DVM). They must have a negative intestinal parasite screening within the past year and they need to be free of external parasites. This is to prevent the spread of illness to other pets staying in the hospital. If external parasites are found on the pet during their stay, they will be treated at the owner's expense.
